Title: The End
(cover art by L. C. Graf)
Status: WIP
Length: 75-85,000 (estimated)
Teaser:
Amanda Leonard is the only one who knows that the world is going to end, but she tries not to let it bother her. That may sound uncaring, but that’s just what happens when you’re born with a clock ticking down to doomsday in your head but no way to stop it.
And really, what does she have to lose? Amanda has no memories of her mother, who died when she was young, leaving her care to the four “uncles” who adopted and looked after her. She has no idea who she is, or why she’s been given this strange ability. She has no plans for what to do with her life, and no desire to make any.
Unsure of her past, present, and future, she decides to returns to the small, rural town in Minnesota where she was born, hoping to find some answers, and some relief from the forebodings of imminent disaster. But when Amanda is faced with an impossible choice between her family and her future, she finds that the end of the world is a lot closer to home than she ever imagined.
Title: Candlelight
Status: Revised manuscript (querying)
Length: 76,000
Teaser:
The year is 1873. While the rest of the country is healing from the still-fresh wounds of the Civil War, business is booming in Virginia City, Nevada, site of the largest silver rush in American history. Theo Neumann is the most recent arrival, and all he wants is to make an honest living after he was forced to flee his home when his employer accused him of theft. He finds a job on one of the many mining crews: perfect work for someone trying to keep a low profile, as long as you don’t mind the daily risk of injury or death.
But deep below the surface of the earth, Theo is about to discover that silver isn’t the only thing hiding in the rock. Ancient, powerful forces will rise in opposition to the intrusive miners, and Theo soon finds himself fighting not only for his life, but for every person in Virginia City.
There are legends about creatures that live in the depths. Some call them the Tommyknockers. What is more troubling than what the stories got wrong…is what the stories got right.
